Description
Traditional Telugu dessert known as “kajjikayalu” is a deep-fried pastry filled with a straightforward coconut-based filling. Kobbari kajjikayalu are made from homemade pastry sheets filled with a combination of dried or fresh coconut, powdered sugar, cardamom, and fried gramme. These sweet packed deep-fried sweets are also known by the names Karanji, Kajjikayalu, Karjikai, and Nevri.

In a temple in Andhra Pradesh’s Kurnool, people throw Kajjikayalus on each other as part of the festival. People take sides of deities – Goddess Parvati and Lord Bhogalingeswara.
